TRELLIS & CLIMBING PLANTS

It is common for homeowners to fill the trellis with bushy plants as part of the aesthetics. They can also conceal a boring yard fence, a plain side of the house, or an unsightly view of the road.

BEST PLANTS FOR TRELLIS

Climbing plants and vegetable plants with vines work well on trellises. These can include the following:

  • Sweet pea

  • Lavender

  • Clematis

  • Climbing roses like Gertrude Jekyll

  • Bean

  • Tomatoes

  • Cucumbers

Make sure your trellis is sturdy enough the hold your vegetation, especially when it is at full bloom. Plants like climbing roses and wisteria will become quite heavy when mature so the structure must be able to support them.
